The Most Overlooked Step in Exterior Branding

Tip for Today #2: The Most Overlooked Step in Exterior Branding

Code checks are important for brand location, because they’re able to maximize their branding abilities to be able to use the maximum amount of square footage, the lighting that they want. So by doing a code check and finding out exactly what square footage is available and allowed, we can push that sign to the brink of what they’re allowing.

I mean, we base everything off the program on code checks. It’s code checks and there on out, so they have to be done and they have to be done right.  Although it might be sometimes a lengthier process to make a code check. It is less time to do a code check and to make sure all the information is correct than to go back and have to reproduce a sign, repermit a sign. So it’s more efficient for the clients as well.

If you install something that is not meeting code, they will make you take it down and redo it.  Some cities will actually fine you for a certain timeframe. So it could be every day, they can also issue a stop work order on the store itself. So it’s very important that you get the information correct and you put the right signs up.

Every single code check is going to be different. It is not gonna be the same across the board. And that is one of the main reasons why you actually have to take your time and follow through making sure that you’re double checking because it’s not going to match any other code check. So if businesses are planning on, you know, buying property and putting signs up, they should check with the ordinance first before they get their hopes up.

Yeah, you wanna make sure that you have every single question, anything possible that could come up with a sign being the material, or, you know, how we install it. Sometimes you need to actually get extra permitting, variances. I mean, there’s all types of things that we have to check when doing the codes.

We actually are calling and confirming with a representative that works for the city, that is a code official, who is going to look at the permitting, who is going to say yes or no, you can have this sign on your building. We are asking them to confirm all of our information.

So it’s just another step in the process to make sure that anything that we’re providing you is correct and is gonna be right for your client.
