Tip for Today #6: How to Prepare an RFP?
Factors to consider when preparing an RFP one would be the scope of work. How many locations are there? What type of locations are there and what is the full scope of work at that specific location? How many signs are going up? Is there wall repair? Are we replacing something? Is it a brand new building? And you’re also gonna wanna look at geographic location. In the wintertime, we’re dealing with a little bit of significant weather. If I’m doing three to 400 locations, my buying power has greatly increased. At that point. I’m gonna get cost reduction in materials and ultimately we can pass that cost savings over to the client.
You really want a highly detailed and specified set of sign drawings. As you’re sending this out to multiple. When you’re requesting that price, you’re gonna wanna make sure that you’re being provided the same product and the price for the same product. What acrylics are you wanting to be used? What LED lighting sources. A lot of times, you’re just looking to make sure that you’re getting an apples to apples comparison, a competitive price, and you’re getting a level of service that you desire.
So service level agreement really pertains to the entire process all the way from the front end of getting a code check doing the due diligence. All the way through the installation and it’s really up to the client and what they’re looking for from their vendors. Do you have a design? Do you know what it is that you’re looking to build or how you’re gonna build it? Do you have an idea of where it’s gonna go on the building? Some organizations have more resources dedicated to the real estate or the construction. Meanwhile, other clients are really coming to us and saying, here’s the brand that I’m trying to achieve. Can you help me in doing that? What would look best here?
Really what you’re buying is a relationship. It’s a level of service. It’s a level of trust to where you’re really partnering with a company and you really wanna make sure that they align with you and your team’s values. And that it’s a good fit.
